Vernon Dutton, sensei and Peder Jensen, sensei emeritus
The Little Rock Aikido Club is a registered student organization at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Instruction at the club is free (though there may be a $3 admission charge at the UALR Donaghey Student Center and membership in the licensing organization and rank promotions do involve some fees). Visitors and new members are welcome (please confirm that the class will be held prior to coming; see Attendance and Contacts below).
The LRAC
is now affiliated with Kaze Uta Budo Kai (the Windsong
Martial Arts Association) headed by Nick Lowry, sensei of the
Windsong Dojo in Oklahoma City.
Under the guidance of Mr. Vernon Dutton, J.D., sensei (a 4th Dan† shown to the left), the LRAC teaches Kihara Aikido, a no-stress, non-competitive form of Aikido. Our sensei emeritus is Dr. Peder Jensen (a 7th Dan with over 15 years’ experience). Dr. Jensen’s sensei is Dr. Clif Norgaard, who has over 50 years’ experience with martial arts and is a 9th Dan in Aikido and a 9th Dan in Judo. Dr. Norgaard’s sensei is Mr. Karl Geis, a 10th Dan in Aikido, an 8th Dan in Judo, and an 8th Dan in Jodo.
† – Dan denotes a “black belt” rank (though ranks 6th through 9th Dan wear a red-and-white belt and a 10th Dan wears a red belt)
